The Institute for Peace and Security Studies (IPSS) at Addis Ababa University will convene Briefing Session titled “The Stability Paradox: Contradictory Aspirations and Violence in Post-2018 Ethiopia”.

This session will feature Dr. Semir Yusuf, ARUA 2026 Fellow at IPSS, who will present his research exploring why state and non-state actors in post-2018 Ethiopia engage in self-defeating behaviors that systematically undermine political stability. The presentation will be followed by critical reflections from an expert discussant who will offer complementary perspectives on the research’s methodology and findings.

The event aims to facilitate a constructive dialogue among policy makers, academic researchers, and peacebuilding practitioners regarding state-society relations, contemporary conflict dynamics, and context-sensitive recommendations for future conflict resolution and governance strategies.
