Download: Concept Note

Good Governance Africa (GGA) – Horn of Africa and the Institute for Peace and Security Studies (IPSS) of Addis Ababa University will convene a hybrid policy dialogue on the upcoming South Sudanese elections. The event, titled “South Sudan – Elections, Governance Uncertainty, and Challenges to the Peace Process,” will include a critical assessment of the country’s evolving electoral landscape ahead of its first-ever general elections scheduled for December 2026. In addition, the discussion will engage with the structural, security, and political challenges undermining the unity government, including slow progress on the 2018 Revitalized Peace Agreement, and explore the minimum conditions, alternative political options, and mitigation strategies for election-related risks necessary to protect the peace process.
