Venue: Online via Zoom, registration required
After the African Union (AU) summit on 6-7 February, expectations are high that the continental body will perform better in the coming years. A new AU Commission with recently elected leaders is expected to take over. This coincides with a change in the rotating chair of the AU as the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) replaces South Africa for 2021.
This seminar considers the AU’s priorities in 2021 and whether the restructuring of the AU Commission can enable more effective responses to Africa’s challenges. This event is co-hosted by the ISS and the Institute for Peace and Security Studies (IPSS). Simultaneous English-French interpretation will be provided.
