The Institute for Peace and Security Studies (IPSS) at Addis Ababa University and the Global and European Studies Institute (GESI) at Leipzig University are now accepting applications for their joint MA and PhD programmes in Global Studies with a special focus on Peace and Security in Africa.
This innovative programme explores the unique ways globalisation impacts Africa and its security landscape. It addresses the growing need for research on Africa’s role in the global order by fostering inclusivity of African students and perspectives.
Global Studies integrates social, cultural, and historical approaches to understanding globalisation processes. The topic of Peace and Security in Africa is embedded in a broader context, focusing on comparative analyses of global interconnections. The programme deepens theoretical and methodological foundations by linking peace and security debates to global actors, strategies, emerging regionalisms, and the shifting roles of nation-states in a dynamic world order.
