The Institute for Peace and Security Studies’ Education and Professional Development Unit (EPD) is delighted to announce the commencement of the 20th Executive Master’s Programme in Managing Peace and Security in Africa (MPSA). This programme is designed to provide participants with the essential skills and knowledge required to tackle Africa’s unique peace and security challenges in a globalized world. The 19 participants of the 20th cohort come from different African Union member states, as well as continental and multilateral organizations, representing diverse backgrounds. This Africa-wide participation exhibits the Pan-African enthusiasm and cooperative endeavors to advance African peace and security.
The 20th cohort of our programme boasts impressive diversity, with participants hailing from 10 countries: Uganda, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Zambia, Kenya, Tanzania, Djibouti, Namibia, South Africa, and Eswatini. We are pleased to report that gender balance is a key priority for us, and we are delighted to have achieved a commendable female-to-male ratio of 47.37% (9 female participants) and 52.63% (10 male participants) in this cohort. This representation speaks to our unwavering commitment to inclusivity and advancing gender equality in peace and security initiatives on the continent.
Professor Kenneth Omeje, a Visiting Professor from the University for Peace (UPEACE), and Vice President of Academic Affairs at Management International University (MIU) in London, will facilitate the first session for the 20th cohort. He also holds the title of Extraordinary Professor in Governance Studies at North-West University (NWU), South Africa.
The Institute for Peace and Security Studies extends a warm welcome to all participants of the 20th cohort. We are confident that this transformative learning experience will equip you with the tools to effectively address Africa’s peace and security challenges while nurturing your professional development.
