The 35th AU Summit of the Head of States and Government, held from 5-6 February 2022 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, occurred against a backdrop of numerous governance, peace, security and economic challenges on the continent. The meeting, thus, discussed and took important decisions on a number of the issues including the state of governance, peace and security on the continent, and progress in the implementation of the Silencing the Guns in Africa Initiative. The Summit also ushered in a new composition for the AU Peace and Security Council (PSC).
