SUMMARY:“PEACE ON AN EMPTY STOMACH?”: BUILDING ON COMMUNIQUÉ 1083 OF THE AFRICAN UNION PEACE AND SECURITY COUNCIL
DESCRIPTION:Download: Concept note  |  Agenda \nThe Institute for Peace and Security Studies (IPSS) and the World Food Programme (WFP) will host a closed-door dialogue to evaluate the current state of food security and conflict in Africa\, identify key priorities\, and explore areas where they can support the AU Peace and Security Council (PSC) and Commission. A central focus of the dialogue will be the launch of a study on Food Security in the African Peace and Security Architecture (APSA)\, which aims to provide evidence-based insights into the linkages between hunger and conflict and offer actionable strategies for addressing these challenges. The dialogue will also serve to align the study with the AU’s priorities by fostering a demand-driven approach to applied research. Through this collaborative effort\, IPSS and WFP aim to ensure that the research effectively addresses the needs of the AU and contributes to its broader peace\, security\, and development objectives.
