SUMMARY:Illicit Financial Flows: Human Security\, Self-Reliance and Conflict
DESCRIPTION:Download: Concept Note | Agenda \nThe upcoming policy dialogue scheduled for September 3\, 2026\, at the Institute for Peace and Security Studies will address how illicit financial flows (IFFs) undermine human security and self-reliance across Africa. With IFFs draining 3.7% of the continent’s GDP and fueling terrorism and conflict through illicit markets and mismanaged extractive resources\, the session will leverage the draft UN Framework Convention on International Tax Cooperation to explore actionable solutions. Ultimately\, the workshop aims to empower African states to shape global tax transparency rules\, strengthen domestic resource mobilization\, and build sustainable peace while reducing their dependency on foreign aid and debt.
