Call for Applications: Writing Workshop for PhD students and early career postdoctoral researchers

With the generous support of the British Academy and the British Institute in Eastern Africa, the Institute for Peace and Security Studies of Addis Ababa University and the University of Edinburgh, in collaboration with the Journal of Eastern African Studies, are organizing a four day, intensive Writing Workshop in Addis Ababa for researchers in the social sciences and history during 22-26 November 2021. The Writing Workshop will bring about 24 PhD students and early career postdoctoral researchers (three years or less after graduation) together in a writing boot-camp format. Over the course of four days, participants will have opportunities to refine and rework draft articles towards a publishable standard by taking advantage of lectures, group work as well as one-to-one sessions with an assigned mentor. The Workshop will be followed by a two-days networking event including panel discussions with editors from major African Studies and Peace and Security Studies journals and a reception with the wider Addis Ababa University academic community.
