On 14 March, the Executive Management Committee of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) paid a courtesy call to the management of IPSS. The delegation consisted of Air Vice Marshall Griffiths, Commandant; Ms. Horname Noagbesenu, Director, Policy Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation; Dr. Emmanuel Kwasi Aning, Director, Faculty of Academic Affairs and Research; and Col. Robert Adwini, Director Administration among others. They met Dr. Kidane Kiros, Director of IPSS and Ms. Michelle Ndiaye, Director, African Peace and Security Programme (APSP) and Head of the Tana Forum Secretariat to deliberate on modalities for cooperation.
In their exchanges, the management of both institutes highlighted the need for collaboration as a way of meeting the research and training needs of institutional constituencies and personnel working in the fields of peace and security.
They further alluded that there were various points of convergence that can be harnessed to better serve the interest of Africa to address the challenge of peace and security on the continent.
To concretize this interest, both institutes agreed to share initial proposals for collaboration that will culminate in the signing of a memorandum of understanding between IPSS and KAIPTC.
